Rivalry & Roars: St John’s Rugby Festival Returns this Easter
St John’s Rugby festival returns, and St John’s College is once again set to host one of the most anticipated events on the schoolboy rugby calendar—the 28th annual Easter Rugby Festival, proudly supported by Standard Bank. Kicking off on 17, 19, and 21 April 2025, this Johannesburg tradition promises a long weekend packed with heart, hustle, and the kind of rugby that reminds us why we love the game.
Celebrated for its emphasis on sportsmanship, camaraderie, and community, the St John’s Rugby Festival proudly does away with league tables and trophies. Here, it’s all about the love of the game.
This year introduces a dynamic new format: while Thursday and Saturday feature the traditional U19 and U13 matchups, Monday brings U16 teams into the fold—giving the next generation of talent a chance to shine under pressure.
“This Festival is about lifelong friendships, not final scores,” says Stuart West, Executive Headmaster of St John’s College.
