Four people stand indoors, smiling at the camera. Three of them hold different flooring samples. The room has red brick and orange painted walls, with some construction wires and unfinished surfaces—a real hot 1027 breakfast vibe.

The next chapter in HOT’s new home — and the spaces where people gather

The transformation of HOT 102.7FM’s new home continues — and this time the focus shifts to the spaces where the station’s personality really comes to life.

From the reception that welcomes visitors to the kitchen and bar areas where the team can connect and entertain, these spaces need to be both functional and full of character. To make that happen, HOT 1027 has partnered with Easy Life Kitchens, whose expertise will help shape the design of these key areas.

In this series, we follow the journey from the first walkthrough and design discussions through to the finished spaces that will become the social heart of the new Hot House.

Check out some of the before photos below:

Episode 1: Imagining the spaces where HOT will gather

The next chapter of the Hot House of Fun journey begins with a walkthrough of the areas that will become some of the most social spaces in HOT 102.7FM’s new home. Lloyd Madurai welcomes Shawn Dammerman from Easy Life Kitchens Northriding and Fourways before handing things over to Bunny Majaja to unpack the brief.

Together they explore the reception, kitchen and bar areas, discussing how each space needs to balance style with functionality. At reception, the focus is on managing high foot traffic while still creating a strong first impression. In the kitchen, the conversation turns to flow, lighting and counter space, ensuring the layout works smoothly when multiple people are using it at once. With the bar and entertainment area also part of the vision, the challenge is clear: design spaces that are practical, welcoming and full of personality as the Hot House of Fun continues to take shape.

Episode 2: Bringing the vision to life

The Easy Life Kitchens journey continues as the team returns to the Hot House of Fun with design concepts that start turning ideas into reality. Bunny Majaja is joined by Shawn and designer Harry, who walk through the proposed layouts for the reception, kitchen and bar, showing how the spaces will connect both visually and functionally.

With a unique brief of a “radio station within a nightclub,” the design carefully balances light and dark spaces, using materials, textures and finishes to create a consistent flow throughout the building. From statement reception features and award displays to a highly functional kitchen designed for catering and events, every detail is considered — from lighting and storage to durability and ease of use.

As the team talks through the renderings and material choices, one thing becomes clear: this is a design built not just to look good, but to work hard in a high-energy, high-traffic environment. And with tight timelines in place, the challenge now is to bring these plans to life — quickly — as the Hot House of Fun continues to take shape.

The ideas are flowing and the clock is ticking — stay tuned to see how these plans turn into real spaces in the next chapter of the Hot House of Fun.
