Introducing Nostradassie – the ultimate football oracle who, according to her very dramatic introduction, “doesn’t look at form, doesn’t care about strategy… she only knows the future.”

Behind the big title is Womble, a dassie from the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, who has been given the enormous responsibility of predicting some of the biggest results of the tournament.

Speaking to Parky, Bunny and Simon on HOT 1027 Breakfast, Wendy from the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital said preparations have already been intense.

“The studying that her and the team have been putting into this is phenomenal,” she laughed. “I have absolute faith in Womble.”

With South Africa’s opening clash against Mexico just around the corner, Womble is getting ready to make her first official prediction.

And while other experts may rely on player statistics and match history, Nostradassie has her own method.

The HOT 1027 Breakfast team will be heading to the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital to capture the prediction process, where Womble will make her choice with a little help from some dassie-approved treats.

“Dassies have never met a calorie they didn’t like,” Wendy joked. “Bowls, edible flags, you name it – they’re ready for it.”

Wendy says Womble may be the face of the campaign, but she won’t be working alone.

“She does consult with the rest of the team because dassies are all about teamwork.”

So, will Nostradassie correctly predict the future? Only time will tell.
