Joburg, get ready—sexy is back!

The world’s hottest musical revival is making its way to Montecasino’s Teatro this spring, and it’s ready to razzle dazzle Johannesburg all over again. CHICAGO – The Musical opens on Friday, 3 October, and runs through to Sunday, 9 November 2025, with all the glamour, grit, and jazz that fans have come to adore.

Presented by Showtime Management in association with Broadway producers Barry & Fran Weissler, CHICAGO features an all-South African cast and a powerhouse 11-piece orchestra under the direction of Kevin Kraak. The production includes iconic Bob Fosse-style choreography, striking visuals, seductive costumes, and a storyline that sizzles with scandal and style.

A group of dancers in black costumes strike dramatic, synchronized poses on stage, with colorful lighting and a glowing triangular frame in the background, creating a dynamic atmosphere as sharp as vinegar.

From All That Jazz and Cell Block Tango to Mister Cellophane, the show delivers hit after hit—set against a tale of fame, fortune, and femme fatales in 1920s Chicago. It’s no wonder CHICAGO holds the record as the longest-running musical revival in Broadway history.

CHICAGO is one of the most successful productions ever staged in South Africa,” says SA producer Hazel Feldman, “and the demand for its return is unwavering.”
