Lloyd Madurai is the Founder and Managing Director of Hot 102.7FM (Pty)Ltd. Lloyd is also the founder of the Hot 102.7FM Radio Academy and a founding member and director of Hot Cares (NPC).
Lloyd’s passion for radio started at the age of 13, doing radio shows over weekends at The Wheel shopping Centre in Durban. At age 15, in the early 90’s Lloyd entered the commercial radio space, making him the youngest commercial radio presenter at the time on-air in SA, while at Radio Port Natal (RPN), now East Coast Radio.
In the late 90’s, Lloyd moved on to be the breakfast show DJ at commercial station P4 Radio (now Gagasi fm). At the age of 21, he was appointed as the Music Manager and weekend on-air DJ at 94.7 Highveld Stereo. After 5 years at 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Lloyd was then appointed as the Head of Talent, Content and Programming at Jacaranda 94.2fm. All of this helped hone his skills and cement his reputation as a radio innovator and thought leader and formed the foundation for the birth of Hot 102.7FM.
Lloyd is an entrepreneur and over the past 2 decades has been involved in the nightclub as well as the events industry. Apart from his love for radio, Lloyd still loves his time behind the mic and is a master of the mix, keeping dance floors packed with his Club Classics Mixes and is always in the DJ line up at parties.
Lloyd’s entrepreneurial methods, vision, hands on approach and leadership have taken Hot 102.7FM to exponential heights as a world class brand, with multiple local and international awards and stands head shoulders amongst the best in the world.
In 2018 Lloyd was inducted into the South Radio Hall of Fame for his contribution to the SA Radio Industry. Lloyd is youngest person in the history of SA Radio to be inducted into the hall of fame.
Integrity is at the centre of everything Lloyd does in radio and his approach to the medium is to have as much fun as possible, to never take the listener for granted, keep it simple, do it with passion and use this powerful platform to make a tangible difference to society.
Outside of the media industry, Lloyd is a fantastic cook, builds and collects classic cars and enjoys relaxing at home with his music, finance Shona and three dogs, Emma, Riley & Benson.
