“It’s not a complex—it’s just complex”: Maureen sells the unsellable

Back on air after two weeks of sun, sea, and probably souvlaki, Parky made his much-anticipated return to HOT 1027 Breakfast show this morning. But any hopes of easing back into routine were dashed the moment the phone lines lit up—because estate agent and regular radio wild card, Maureen Lipschitz, was waiting.

“Simon, it’s Maureen Lipschitz… Lipschitz Properties, Plettenberg Bay. If the property fits, it must be Lipschitz,” she chirped, wasting no time in welcoming him back before pivoting, naturally, to a real estate opportunity she’d been “hanging on to” just for him.

Fresh off his Greek holiday, Parky was treated to Maureen’s own memories of the islands—specifically 1977, a breakup with someone named Chaz Everett, and a personal journey across Kefalonia and “Liz Boss.” But the real showstopper was her listing: a one-bedroom, half-bathroom unit in a development called Know Thy Neighbor.

A man with short brown hair is sitting in a white bathtub, looking at the camera. The background includes a window and a bath faucet with a shower attachment. The bathroom has a clean, bright appearance.

According to Lipschitz, the “half-bath” is a shared facility with a neighbor, while the bedroom is split by a room divider—shared with the same person. “It’s bath fractional ownership,” she explained, proudly noting the buyer gets access to the bathroom on specific days.

The original asking price? R22 million. “Daylight robbery,” Lipschitz declared—but assured Parky she negotiated it down to a mere R19 million.

Though she tried her best to “register his interest,” Parky declined with his trademark diplomacy.

Lipschitz may not have closed a sale, but she certainly stole the show—reminding listeners why Mondays are a little less blue with her on the line.
