Mango Groove returns for a spectacular Heritage Day concert, powered by HOT 102.7FM

Few South African bands have stood the test of time quite like Mango Groove, and this Heritage Day, music lovers will have the chance to experience the legendary group live in one of Johannesburg’s most spectacular outdoor settings.

The iconic band will headline the Sunset Music Series at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden on Thursday, 24 September 2026, promising an afternoon filled with timeless music, celebration and unmistakably South African spirit.

Fresh off their sold-out 40th anniversary celebrations in 2025, Mango Groove continues to captivate audiences across generations with their signature fusion of Afropop, marabi, kwela and big band influences.

Songs like Special Star, Dance Some More, Moments Away and Another Country have become part of the soundtrack to South African life, making the band’s Heritage Day performance a fitting celebration of the country’s rich musical legacy.

Lead singer Claire Johnston says there’s something uniquely special about performing outdoors, especially on a day dedicated to celebrating South Africa’s diverse culture and identity.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the gardens, fans can expect an afternoon of singing, dancing and nostalgia in an atmosphere designed for families and friends to enjoy together.

The concert takes place from 1pm to 5pm on Thursday, 24 September at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort. Tickets cost R395 for adults and R295 for children aged 5 to 17 (excluding service fees), with children under five entering free.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, blankets and camp chairs, while enjoying the relaxed surroundings of one of Gauteng’s most beautiful venues. Own food is welcome, although drinks will be available for purchase on site.
