Skills, stories, and studio time: Hot 1027 Academy class of 2025 graduates

More than 60 aspiring broadcasters are marking a milestone moment this morning as they graduate from the one-of-a-kind Hot 1027 Training Academy. After eight weeks of hands-on learning, real-world exposure, and behind-the-scenes magic, these students step out with a newfound appreciation for what it truly takes to make great radio.

For the class of 2025, the programme was nothing short of transformational. What began as curiosity quickly grew into deep respect as students heard first-hand accounts of grit, failure, reinvention, and perseverance — the true ingredients behind compelling on-air storytelling.

“The last eight weeks have really been groundbreaking and so informative. I’m even listening to the radio differently,” one graduate shared, reflecting the sentiment echoed throughout the group.

Many arrived unaware of the complexities behind the voices they hear each day — from news presenting and music programming to production, writing, and studio tech. But through immersive sessions with the Hot 1027 team, those layers were peeled back, revealing the artistry and discipline that bring a show to life.

“Initially, I had no idea what goes behind making the magic we hear through our speakers,” said another student.

A highlight of the Academy was the chance for students to build and record their own demos — a professional step that sharpened presentation skills, boosted confidence, and showcased the practical side of radio performance.

“It was really insightful, especially for someone passionate about the media space.”

Today, the journey culminates in celebration at Hot House, where families, mentors, and the Hot 1027 team gather to applaud the hard work, late nights, laughter, honesty, and growth that shaped the past two months.

A grateful student summed it up best:

“Thank you so much for this awesome initiative and for paying it forward to people who love radio.”

As these graduates take their next steps, one thing is clear: the future of broadcasting is bright — and filled with passion.
