“This is just one of the many community events we get involved in every year that not only puts smiles on the faces of the people we visit, but also all of us involved,” said Lloyd Madurai, Managing Director of HOT 102.7FM. “These are organisations who do such fantastic work and the least we can do is chip in with some goodies at Christmas time and provide some joy for those less fortunate.”

Woodrock Animal Rescue is a rehabilitation and re-homing shelter near Pretoria and has over 500 animals in its care, including donkeys, pigs, chickens, rabbits, geese, goats, dogs and cats.

The HOT 102.7FM convoy was on hand to feed and walk the animals, before handing over R50 000 worth of pet food for the centre to use this festive season.

Johannesburg, December 2023 – Embracing the spirit of giving this festive season, HOT 102.7FM recently enjoyed another successful staging of its annual Toy Run, taking gifts and bucket-loads of joy to three worthy organisations.

Saturday the 16th of December saw a fleet of HOT 102.7FM-branded cars leaving Hot House in Northriding, followed by a healthy complement of station staff and presenters, with the sole intention of providing some Christmas cheer at Woodrock Animal Rescue, Eddy House, and St Mary’s Children’s Home

After that it was off to Eddy House for the Aged in Benoni, where the HOT 102.7FM team arrived with members of the Ferrari Owners Club of SA, who were on hand to offer many of the senior citizens a quick ride in their spectacular cars.

There were also volunteers from Top Dog, who brought along several therapy dogs, and the Eddy House residents were treated to presents, a sit-down Christmas lunch, a magic show, and a bit of a shuffle on the dance floor, before the HOT 102.7FM crew had to head off to its next stop.

That was St Mary’s Children’s Home in Rosettenville, where HOT 102.7FM turned the home’s field into a Christmas carnival, with a ‘slip n slide’, jumping castle, dance floor and food trucks, as well as a Dakar Rally vehicle for spins round the neighbourhood!

And, of course, Father Christmas was on hand to deliver gifts to all 47 boys and girls.

It’s been the most wonderful Christmas,” said Sonja Harmse, Director at St Mary’s Children’s Home. “Typical of HOT 102.7FM – everything down to a tee and just wonderful. We’ve really been battling, financially, and couldn’t afford something nice this year, and HOT 102.7FM came to the rescue.”

So, another successful HOT 102.7FM Toy Run, which is just one of the many Hot Cares initiatives throughout the year.

Hot Cares is a non-profit company and strives to make a meaningful difference to the lives of those around it, dedicating its efforts to providing much-needed assistance to those who find themselves in difficult circumstances, with a focus on four key areas: humanitarian and welfare, medical, educational, and animal welfare.
