Bosch Leads SA to Historic T20 World Cup Win Over Australia

Anneke Bosch’s unbeaten 74 off 48 balls propelled South Africa to a commanding eight-wicket win over reigning champions Australia, securing a place in the Women’s T20 World Cup final.  The Proteas chased down 135, with Bosch and captain Laura Wolvaardt (42) sharing a pivotal 96-run partnership, marking South Africa’s first-ever T20 World Cup victory over Australia.

Australia, after losing the toss, struggled early as Grace Harris and Georgia Wareham were dismissed within the first three overs. Beth Mooney (44) and captain Tahlia McGrath (27) provided some resistance with a 50-run stand, but Australia managed a modest total of 134-5.

In reply, South Africa lost Tazmin Brits (15) in the fifth over, but Bosch and Wolvaardt’s aggressive approach put the Proteas in control. Wolvaardt fell to a slower ball from Annabel Sutherland, but Bosch, named player of the match, carried her team to victory.

“My heart is racing; it was tough out there. I’m glad we got past the line,” Bosch said, reflecting on the historic win.
